Umbra
Luminous circus and video art for wastelands
Umbra is a passage into stillness — a drift from dazzle and noise into the quiet dusk of slow thoughts. The performance traces the final dance of fading light before night settles in. Luminous juggling sticks cut through the air, and light bends beneath the feet of the tightrope walker.
The piece spills beyond the stage, unfolding into its surroundings through light and video. With projections cast by multiple projectors, the architecture of the site comes alive, woven into the fabric of the work’s dramaturgy. This site-specific creation is made for urban wastelands — the in-between spaces, half-lit and long forgotten.

The premiere will take place in Helsinki on October 4, 2025, beneath the Kulosaari Bridge, behind the Redi shopping center. It is part of the City of Helsinki’s environmental art program in Kalasatama.
